In 1995, the duo Acda & de Munnik embarked on a series of highly successful albums and sold-out theater tours. Their first album, 1997, featured the well-known hits 'Als Het Vuur Gedoofd Is' (When the Fire Is Extinguished), 'Walking Until the Sun Comes,' 'Vondelpark Tonight,' and the now-famous cover of the Jacques Brel song 'De Stad Amsterdam' (The City of Amsterdam). Following their debut, their second album, Naar Huis (To Home), featured their biggest hit, 'Niet Of Nooit Geweest' (Not or Never Been). Besides this massive hit, this album contains a considerable number of well-known and beloved songs, such as the song about John Lennon's death, 'Laat Me Slapen' (Let Me Sleep), 'De Kapitein' (The Captain), and 'Het Regent Zonnestraal' (It's Raining Sunbeams). Naturally, the signature Acda & de Munnik hits 'Ren Lenny Ren' (Run Lenny Run), 'Verweerd Verbonden' (Wrongly Connected), and 'De Kapitein Deel II' (The Captain Part II) are also featured on the unique compilation LP, Adem - Het Beste Van Acda & de Munnik. The artwork for this compilation is unique and created entirely in collaboration with Acada en de Munnik. The photos on the album's cover and inside the gatefold sleeve were shot in France during the songwriting process for the album that launched it's success.
