The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982) is a British romantic adventure television film directed by Clive Donner and starring Anthony Andrews, Jane Seymour and Ian McKellen. Set during the Reign of Terror in 1792 France, the film follows Sir Percy Blakeney, an English aristocrat who leads a double life as the daring Scarlet Pimpernel, rescuing French nobles from the guillotine. His secret identity is threatened when his new wife, Marguerite St. Just, is coerced by her former lover, Chauvelin, an agent of Robespierre, to uncover the Pimpernel's identity.
